Mitchell “FLASH” Craig (born 24 May 1982) is a former professional Australian rules footballer who played for Box Hill in the VFL and was on the rookie list of Melbourne in the AFL.

A basketball convert, Craig played TAC Cup for Eastern Ranges before being drafted late in the 2001 rookie draft. He spent 2001 with the Demons but did not make his senior debut, and was delisted at the end of the year.

Craig then joined VFL club Box Hill, where he played for a number of years

Craigs most memorable moment of his career came when he was mentioned in current Hawthorn Hawks Coach Sam Mitchell’s book “Relentless” as Mitchell wrote “the following pick was Mitchell Craig, bet you’ve never heard of him” as he was the following pick in the 2000 (Pick 80) as a reference to the calibre of players Mitchell was drafted amongst.

In the 2000 pre season Leigh Mathew’s claimed Craig was the best up and coming tap ruckman he had seen in the past 30 years on analysis, whilst Mike Sheehan wrote an article in 2008 in the Herald Sun - Top 10 players to not played 300 games, with Craig coming in at 8.

He is said to have achieved a 13.2 on the beep test, whilst punching a JPS gold and a Carlton Draught, following a challenge from a portly staff member.

Craig is a devout Muslim and has embraced the plant based diet community.

Craig resides in Thornbury, Victoria, conjuring up a career as a carpenter with a couple of 1st and 2nd years under his belt. He remains good friends with Adam Clinton.
