Matthew Bishop (born 11 July 1975) is a former professional Australian rules footballer who played for Melbourne and Port Adelaide in the AFL.

Drafted by Melbourne from VFL side Box Hill in 1997, Bishop did not make a senior appearance during the year. Re-rookied in 1998, he was promoted to the senior list early in the season and played 10 games for the year, adding another eight in 1999. At the end of the year he was traded to Port Adelaide.

Bishop established himself in Port Adelaide's backline, playing 132 games for the club in seven years. He was a member of Port's first AFL premiership side in 2004. At the end of the 2006 season, he was not offered a new contract despite having played 16 games throughout the year, ending his AFL career at the age of 31.
