Darren Kowal (born 18 June 1972) is a former professional Australian rules footballer who played for Melbourne in the AFL and Claremont in the WAFL.

Originally from South Bunbury, Kowal played in Claremont's 1991 WAFL premiership as a teenager before being selected by Melbourne in the top three of the 1991 national draft. He made his debut late in 1992 and played three games for the year, followed by 17 in 1993. After 14 games in an injury-affected 1994 and 18 games in 1995, Kowal played every game in 1996, making headlines for an on-field clash with Richmond coach Robert Walls that saw him (and Walls) fined. He was in and out of the senior side over the next three years, and was delisted by the Demons after 105 games in eight years.

Kowal returned to Claremont, where he was appointed captain in 2001. He retired in 2005.
