Brett Ratten (born 11 July 1971) is a former professional Australian rules footballer who played for Carlton in the AFL.
Ratten made his debut in the final round of the 1990 season as a 19-year old before becoming a regular member of the senior side the following year, playing 20 games. He played in Carlton's losing 1993 grand final, and two years later won the Blues' best and fairest along with a premiership medal. He followed that up with two further best and fairest wins in 1997 and 2000. Ratten was named as an All-Australian in 2000 and 2001, and took over from Craig Bradley as the Blues' captain in 2002. He retired during the 2003 season, having played 255 games in navy blue.
After his playing career ended Ratten moved into coaching. He was an assistant under Neale Daniher at Melbourne for two seasons before coaching Eastern Football League side Norwood in 2006. He returned to Carlton in 2007 as an assistant under Denis Pagan, taking over as caretaker coach when Pagan was sacked mid-season. Ratten remained as Carlton coach until the end of 2012, recording 60 wins and a draw from 120 games and taking the Blues to the finals in three of his six completed seasons. After his contract was terminated at the end of the 2012 season, Ratten joined Hawthorn as an assistant, playing a role in the Hawks' three-peat in 2013, 2014 and 2015. He shifted to St Kilda for the 2019 season.
