- Ben Newton is a footballer with the Melbourne Football Club after rejecting a contract with Port Adelaide because of little playing time.

Newton was drafted by Port Adelaide with pick 35 in the 2010 National Draft. Newton made his debut three years after against GWS in round 7. In 2014, Newton was a key player for the Port Adelaide Reserves and played in the 2014 SANFL Grand Final. After four years with the Power, Newton rejected a contract from Port to seek more playing time with the fast developing Demons.
