Adam Fisher is a former footballer and vice-captain of the Glenelg Football Club. The onballer had been credited with being a big part of rebuilding the Glenelg Football Club after he was recruited for Melbourne.
Football Career[]
Country Football[]
A midfielder, Fisher won the Sheehan Medal for best player in the 2000 Under 16 National Championships. He was also named All-Australian that year. One of the teammates that he beat to the Sheehan Medal was Chris Judd. He once again earned All-Australian schoolboy honours the next year in a side including Nick Dal Santo, Luke Hodge and Luke Ball.
The next year he won his third consecutive All-Australian honour in the Under 18's competition while captain of the Victorian Country side. He then won the Best and fairest at North Ballarat in 2002
Melbourne[]
Fisher was selected in the 2002 Rookie Draft and was assigned the number 44 but never played a game for Melbourne.
Sandringham[]
Fisher played 14 games in the Sandringham midfield in 2003 but was delisted at the end of 2004.
Glenelg[]
Fisher was recruited to Glenelg as a rookie listed player in 2005 and won Best and Fairest in his first year at the club. In 2006, Fisher was nominated vice-captain and represented the SANFL state team and in 2007. In the 2008 grand final loss, Fisher named one of the best on ground. He would continue to be vice captain until his retirement. He won another Best and Fairest in his final year at the club.
When Fisher announced his retirement, Glenelg Coach Mark Mickan said: "Adam Fisher has been a wonderful contributor to the Glenelg Football Club’s drive to become a force in the SANFL competition. He is a natural leader who has set extremely high standards of professionalism in his quest for team success. His two best and fairest wins are indicative of his football ability. The respect Adam is afforded by the whole football community is indicative of his character. We wish Adam and his wife Kimberley well. They are always welcome at Glenelg”.
