Match Summary[]
The match was coming off a rest week covering two playing days and both teams looked relaxed.
Demonstration Against an Umpire[]
The field umpire was heavily abused during the game because he showed himself being biased towards Sturt and not showing the basic knowledge about Australian Football. Frequently the umpire would see trips and tumbles in unavoidable situations. He also penalized players for legitimately shepherding players, and his decisions were erratic in the last quarter of the game. When the game was terminated the crowed rushed towards the gate where the umpire had to pass through to the dressing room. Fearing trouble the umpire, he waited for police to escort him to the dressing room. A section of the crowed made a demonstration against the umpire inside and outside the reserve there were 5 uniformed police and 2 plain clothed policemen stopped the outbreak.
